Motivator Minute: Responsibility vs Accountability in a Leadership Role

Sean : A great leader knows the difference between accountability and responsibility. And these both of these in conjunction with each other, but first by clearly communicating the expectations, actions and results. Now everyone knows what you’re going to measure how often and when we start. And this is critical because without clear expectations, people make up their own. This is accountability. And then responsibility comes in when the leaders are willing to hold themselves and their team member to consequences if the standards are not met. And now people can fail. And failure is key to growth because without responsibility, there is no failure and without failure, we don’t learnnn
