Motivator Minute: Quiet Quitting is a New Term for Putting in Minimal Effort is Needed – Not Good

Transcript

Sean Kelley : nThis quiet quitting movement is detrimental to individuals, companies and society as a whole. I get it, the quiet quitters want a better work life balance. They don’t want to become slaves to big business. The first problem is that it’s an underhanded way of eroding the success of a business which hurts the consumers, and the many people who benefit when a business thrives. n

nWhen you accept a job role and take a company’s money to perform that role. There’s an expectation that you’ll give it your best. And how is it possible to be quietly quitting and be giving it your best? Quite simply, it’s not possible. And if you want to truly enjoy what you do, then you need to do each activity with passion, conviction, and deliberate focus because when you give something your all, you’ll get better results and better results create a dopamine reward that gives you more motivation and drive. And with that degree of deliberate focus on your responsibilities, combined with those better results. n

nAll of a sudden, your efforts are about something bigger than you are and that’s reporting. Quietly quitting is also an easy way to destroy your personal brand. The most successful frontline people that I coach, they love working with quiet quitters, they say good, the cream rises to the top and you’re helping me stand out,n

nSome of the questions you might want to ask yourself if you’re a quiet quitter are okay if I was on my deathbed, could I possibly regret not reaching my fullest potential? And when I’m gone? Do I really want to be remembered as someone who barely did enough to get by? If the answer to either those questions is yes, then I would reconsider quietly quittingn
