Transcript

Sean :nSo many people desire to get into a leadership role for the wrong reasons. First, they don’t know what they don’t know. But they decide they want to be a manager because of what they see from their perspective, which is usually only the tip of the iceberg as it relates to their leaders true responsibilities. n

nMaybe they just see the pay or the authority that comes with it, and they want that, but they don’t really know the entire scope of what a leader is responsible for achieving and for doing. This decision usually has to do with the promise of more pay, more consistent pay, or maybe the challenge of learning something new because the employees feel they’ve mastered their current role. n

nAnd the question you have to ask is, how do you feel about being responsible for your family’s livelihoods? Because in reality, that’s the leverage of what you’re actually taking on when you decide to become a leader. If you’re doing it for the money alone or some other perk, it’s the wrong reason. If you want to move up, just because you need a new challenge, then what’s getting in the way of you raising the bar and setting higher goals for you in your current role? Becoming a leader is not to be taken lightly.nn
